Valletta As European Capital Of Culture for 2018

vallettaBall gets rolling for Valletta as Capital of Culture.  An informative business meeting session on Valletta as the European Capital of Culture 2018 will be held for stakeholders on the 4th of March at the Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry in Republic Street, Valletta.

Local councils, artists, representatives of arts and cultural organisations, creative industries, the education sector, business and voluntary sectors have been invited to attend to this business meeting session.

In 2018 Malta will have the responsibility of hosting the European Capital of Culture in Valletta along with a city representing the Netherlands.  This initiative is one of the most prestigious and internationally visible cultural activities of the EU.

The title of European Capital of Culture is aimed at promoting cultural excellence and encouraging localities to put culture at the heart of development and innovation, proving that culture is essential to city life, regeneration, education, the economy including all types of business meetings and social inclusion.  The session will include an introduction by culture Parliamentary Secretary Mario de Marco, followed by a presentation by Jacqueline Pacaud from the European Commission DG for Education and Culture.
